FOUNDER / CEO

Leeland founded The Perfect Pooch NYC in 2005, but has been caring for pets professionally since 2000.  Taking care of animals is in her blood and she couldn’t imagine doing anything else. Expanding the company and taking on a team of like-minded professionals in 2016  has expanded Leeland’s interests into business, marketing and team leadership.

IT AND OPERATIONAL MANAGER

Franco is an IT wiz. His full-time career is at Mt. Sinai Hospital on the Upper East Side. But his love for animals (and Leeland) persuades him to spend all of his free time with The Perfect Pooch team.

GENERAL MANAGER

Hello! My name is Maya. I’m a Danish Native that’s been living in NYC since 2021. I’ve been surrounded by animals all of my life and I am so excited to work as General Manager for The Perfect Pooch. The love and trust that animals provide is like no other, and I feel blessed to take care of them on a daily basis! In my spare time I love to dance to disco music, watch performances and exhibitions and eat good food with friends!

I grew up with all kinds of animals and have a deep love for pets, arts, and nature! When I’m not working at the Perfect Pooch I’m either at my second job Trader Joe’s or spending time with friends and family.

Hello, my name is José and I’m ageless (a very young 57 really). I’ve been working for the Perfect Pooch since fall of 2018. Before that I worked in the Hospitality Business. Back then all my friends and family knew to leave all their pets under my care whenever they went away because I just love animals but don’t have any of my own because I love to travel and spend time outdoors. These are the reasons that I love this job—I’m out all day with my beloved furry friends!

Hi, I’m Fernando and I’m from Indianapolis, Indiana and a Virgo, I’m also the oldest of 7 so I carry a heavy big brother energy. I come from a family of animal lovers. We grew up with several little dogs around as well as parrots, turtles, bunnies, and fish!!

Hi! My name is Kelsey and I love caring for animals of all kinds! Over the past decade I have worked with rescue groups and fostered dozens of dogs and cats (and kept a few!) I have been a pet sitter and walker for several years in both Los Angeles and New York. I currently live in UWS Manhattan with my husband, two spoiled dogs, and exceptionally spoiled cat. Both my husband and I are musicians working on numerous projects and occasionally performing for our captive animal audience.

Hey there, my name is Trenton. I am originally from Oregon but moved to NYC in 2018. I am so thankful to take care of your precious fur friend. I have been caring for dogs, cats and quite a few other types of animals since I was 6. In addition to dog walking, I love performing. Hello! Ive been working with pups for the last 12 years and wouldn't give it up for the world. On my free time you can catch me either messing with my dog, writing in my dungeons and dragons binder, or toiling away at whatever video game has my attention. I also love to cook new and familiar things regularly and share it with those I can. I very much try to be easy going in most aspects of anything I do—life is more fun that way.

Hi, my name is Dekota! I have loved animals ever since I was a kid. I have traveled around and lived in multiple places around the country but the one thing that has remained constant is my love for animals. I started off working at a shelter in South Carolina. Then I was a vet tech at an emergency animal hospital and a surgery tech at a shelter in Kansas City. I also worked at best friends animal sanctuary in Utah, where I worked with dogs with behavioral challenges. I can’t wait to meet you and your pets and give them all the care that they need!

Hello everyone. My name is Lili. I was born and raised in Manhattan and have loved dogs since I was a toddler. My first dog, Gracie, a beautiful Pit Bull, was the sweetest girl ever. We adopted her from a shelter in Yonkers. All of our dogs have been rescues and I believe very deeply in adoption. After Gracie died we adopted Daisy, another Pitty, and Leo, a Lab/Pit/Hound mix. I never thought I could love a dog more than Gracie but then these two goofballs joined our family and the rest is history.

When I was in 5th grade I volunteered at a shelter. Some dogs were healthy, many were sick, but they were ALL confused and scared. It was heartbreaking. I made a commitment to do whatever I could to help animals in need and continued working at various shelters in the city until I left for college.

Besides many years in the pet care industry, I also own a media company called Wide Awoke Media LLC. I do podcasts, true crime, photography, editing, and many other media related tasks. I like art, museums, documentaries, thrillers, and events. I have two kids 17 and 19 one is fully in college the other is in high school. My motto is "Life is Beautiful" because I don’t do hate or self destruction.

I am a pet owner myself with a Schnoodle (schnauzer poodle mix) since she was 3 months old. She’s now turning 7 this year in December. Ive started my pet job journey in 2018 and have worked with dogs since in different places. From dog walking, to grooming, to vet care and daycare; I just enjoy being surrounded by amazing animals and I couldn’t think of a better career! And I don’t discriminate as I started owning cats before I owned a dog- my cat had passed away in 2018 and hadn’t gotten one again since.
